But by the looks of the replies I'm getting it's not going to get original or creative anytime soon, people are literally throwing money at knock-offs just to fill in their nostalgia voids. There could have been some truly modern classics within the indie scene, new legends that could have rivaled the greats like Miyamoto, and a much needed shake-up in the industry as a whole. In summary: All I'm saying is there is so much creative potential being wasted just to make easy money. So the only reason they are copying the same formula of another successful indie is because it's guaranteed to make at least some money.

They're literally free to develop anything they want. The indie industry however really shouldn't be, for starters they are not held back by executives or mandates so they don't have to follow a bunch of rules when developing.

This week actually marks the 19th anniversary of Jet Set Radio Future and in line with this, Team Reptile has dropped an "official trailer" for its upcoming title. It's done by Team Reptile (the developer behind games like Lethal League and Lethal League Blaze) and features music in it by Hideki Naganuma - the guy who composed for Sega's Jet Set Radio series.

If futures graffiti didn't have the camera changes and instead maybe some other visual flare that didn't take camera control, they could have kept the police the way they were in the original with it being WAY less annoying. If you're a fan of the Sega series Jet Set Radio, one game you might want to be on the lookout for is Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. You can tell they wanted it to be stylish by keeping the camera transitions at the cost of flow, which I wish they had actually NOT done. Graffiti plays a lesser role in future and instead focuses on exploration and cool platforming without interrupting the flow. Weirdly enough, I think JSR would have benefitted by NOT having police chase you and separating those sections like in future. There is even an awful trophy for the steam version to beat the game without being grabbed, and you quickly realize the issues during that kinda of play through. In JSR you had police chase you through the level and if you didn't get the graffiti in certain order it makes it a drag to play. I think radio futures graffiti is better. Anyways I think that BRC has amazing potential to be almost or even as good as the original Jet Set Radio, and is already better for me than JSRF. I think that having parkour is a good feature if Team Reptile pulls it off. I also know that no, they don't have inline skates, I know that might ruin it for you but I think it could help with the controls and you can still grind on rail. But Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is looking amazing and pulls of the look of the original Jet Set Radio better than JSRF in MY OPINION ALRIGHT so don't hate on me. I am praying that the graffiti is like JSRs and not like JSRFs. And if you've seen the Bomb Rush Cyberfunk teaser you know its a banger. They have had previous experience with Naganuma in games like Lethal League Blaze. The company making Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is Team Reptile.

It is brightly colored and cell-shaded with low-polygons (Except for the characters, witch is fine by me) and textures to really feel like JSR. Future just doesn't work well and doesn't really feel like a JSR game to me. it looks stunning and has to me, the same kind of feel JSR gives me and I love that. BRC from the footage and images we have now looks a lot like the original Jet Set Radio, witch I love. If that's not what you want, than don't read this or hate on it please. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk or BRC is a spiritual successor to JSR and I will be giving my thoughts on it.
